Crazy, I wonder why…
Last one where I live happened on… October 4, 2023, at approximately 2:20 p.m. EDT. This test was conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to evaluate the effectiveness of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA). The test was broadcast to all compatible cell phones, televisions, and radios across the country. The message on cell phones read: “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.” It was accompanied by a unique tone and vibration to ensure accessibility, and the message appeared in English or Spanish based on the phone’s language settings.
