And before there is debate, I can personally attest that the overwhelming majority of those of us who have truly trained in self-defense understand how easy it is to severely hurt or kill someone... even by accident, so we do not take any altercation lightly and do everything possible to de-escalate the situation.
I actually find myself more confrontational if I’m not carrying.
Exactly. I'm actually less inclined to let fear guide my decision making knowing I can handle more situations if necessary. I can focus on deescalation knowing that I CAN escalate if I really need to. No chest beating or whatever necessary.
This is not a true statement. We have many examples of armed people not being polite. It takes more than everyone being armed to be “polite”. Like many things there isn’t a one dimensional solution to a “polite society”.
