What alternatives are people going for? Coldcard?
Coldcard is the best, but there are a lot of combination if you think about multisig which gives the ultimate protection.

Always always verify all updates, firmware and signatures. Only buy a Coldcard direct from their official site and verify it when it arrives
For updates I have a dedicated system built. (Paranoid mode ON) 🤪😏
