I was just able to zap someone faster than my bank could send a stupid SMS code needed just to log in

And then I tried to Zelle someone money and they made me enter another SMS code. Except this time they asked me for a number to send it to first! So in other words, a security precaution with precisely zero chance of preventing fraud.
