Yes. Mine has rubber caps.
On my prism (I have astigmatism), I keep the covers on since it stays in my cabinet, as my primary home defense weapon is a mossberg 590. When I carry a pistol with a dot sight, no. No cover.
No just blow it off when I can't see through it.
