Would definitely rather just meet up with people who have a simple contract: "we're going to be here on these dates, come join us if you're free". Instead, it was some weird parody of a Kafkaesque bureaucracy from a community preaching freedom. Was expecting pirates, instead got super basic displays of in-group behavior and cringy circle jerking.
I can't tell if they're under pressure to deliver on a promise, or it was some whim they pinky sweared on and now have to follow through. But whatever it is, they want to be in control but are not ready for it, that much is obvious.
