In the Netherlands we still have paper ballots.

However we have an entirely different political system with not just red and blue. We have many parties, and the need to work together to form a majority. This means they always do promises before elections, but after they are elected 9 out of 10 promises can’t be realised because they have to work together with other parties and they demand to drop some specific things the other party promised.

It’s one big clownshow and totally not constructive. At the moment we have 4 parties working together blocking all ideas or things that oppose them. Nothing democratic about it anymore imo
