Neither is/was more important than the other. Without one, the other is useless.
In the 80’s, digital tech was still in its infancy and it was a lot easier to trust in something tangible rather than a bunch of 1’s and 0’s, which is why, at the time, hardware was so coveted.
But can you admit that today digital plays the most important role in the physical realm. Very physical process is more efficient and productive, orders of magnitude, because of software.
