I practised meditation for a long time and had profound experiences through it (pre pandemic).
However, I lost touch with it. Now I am slowly getting back in to it.
My mind is still restless and will gradually let it settle down.
" The mind is like a potter's wheel it keeps creating pots (thoughts) and even once you are able to stop it from creating, thoughts it still has some momentum left in it but it will gradually come to a halt"
My aim is to reach back to that state.
Very well put. It is a constant effort to calm the mind and for me that is sort of the overall point. Just the fact that you know that the thoughts are there and you can slow it down is like being half way there already.
