I simultaneously love and hate meetings like that.

If they want to build that in your community, then they should pay for a full time fire department and also all the costs thereof for a period of no less than 20 years, even if they decommission the site in less than that.

You could also contractually obligate them to hire local and prefer local contracting businesses.

You can also offer for them to maintain the roads to and from the facility in the lieu of tax abatements.

You could call it a community development fund to foster acceptance and build good relations between the involved parties.

Then there is also the matter of oversight and safety auditing... 😅

Yeah it all sounds sensible, except the company has offered none of that. One of the owners is from china, so i dont think they care about safety or any benefit to the locals. They probably think that nobody out here in the country would care.

Then that's a sign that you don't want them operating in your community. It seems just that simple.

So if anyone is pro that... They are likely getting something to shift them over to the pro side.
