Tether Launches USAT, a New U.S.-Centric Stablecoin
Tether is introducing USAT, a new stablecoin designed for the U.S. market and regulatory compliance, led by former White House digital assets working group executive director Bo Hines. Slated for launch by year-end by issuer Anchorage Digital, USAT will be headquartered in Charlotte, NC.
This move signifies Tether's strategic pivot to establish a stronger U.S. presence. USAT is built to adhere to the GENIUS Act, the U.S.'s first comprehensive stablecoin legal framework. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino stated USAT will serve distinct use cases, including for underserved U.S. communities, and that USDT aims for GENIUS Act compliance within three years.
Tether also plans to become the world's largest Bitcoin miner by year-end.
