#nostr in my opinion has the same problem as Linux for its diffusion among ordinary people, too much fragmentation.
People who decide to use #nostr must first 'study' how it works and which client to use, and there is so much choice that they either choose nothing or they choose everything and get confused.
It took me months to get my dear friend nostr:npub1gkgrsna9wxs5ggf5p5meu7jcjegs8vgyenp9a5dfkscfna5nrajqtrfmrz to sign up to #nostr, giving him all the information I could not to confuse him, and he is not a novice, he knows his way around the internet.
So less fragmentation would help a lot to understand #THEnostr.

Fragmentation is something intrinsic to free software, I have heard this same argument decades ago talking about GNU/Linux.
My opinion is that fundamentally you are right, but less fragmentation means more centralization (in general terms).
#thenostr is not a software, it is a protocol and each interface implements the NIP's it wants, and that's part of the fun.
I think we have a challenge there, I have also tried to introduce family and friends and they just left in a few weeks.
