Been running it for years. But recommend, if you’re starting from scratch, to not use vendor specific smart devices. Example TP-Link, or Google Nest, etc.

Zigbee, Zwave and matter devices are the way to go. Connects directly with a USB radio and integrates with Home Assistant. Then enjoy going down the rabbit hole.
