Been waiting for this for a LONG time. These are the types of things non-retailers wouldn't understand. But it is MASSIVE for small business adoption of bitcoin/lightning.
It's one thing to pester merchants to accept bitcoin but until it is seamless, your one-time $10 purchase alone is simply not enough incentive.

This can provide immutable inventory record keeping across multiple store locations while keeping data internal. Hook it up with the zeus/square integration and now you've got a fully integrated system.
Employees can be assigned an npub and connect to the store relay. They use nip-05 logins at the terminals to record sales and commissions. Keeps everyone honest.
This also enables seamless customer loyalty accounts which can easily sync up their purchase/returns history, lightning rewards points, and other similar features.

So I've been workshopping the concept of setting up a store fedi which enables ecash gift cards, rewards points etc. A simple app with nostr integration provides identity and an easy-for-consumers UI. Recently ecash was linked up with zaps so now that can even serve double duty as both a payment app and loyalty app.
From a user perspective they just need to download the app and generate an npub. They wont even necessarily need to know they are interacting with bitcoin/lightning/ecash. You can brand it as Fern Points or whatever else you like.
I like the idea of shadow pilling. Most ppl won't care but there will be a population of people who are curious abt the underlying tech, dig deaper, ask questions and find that it's actually bitcoin/lightning. Loyal customers magically become bitcoiners without even realizing it! As long as the app is stable and easy to use, they'll come to the realization that payments over bitcoin are better than the existing fiat system. No need to convince someone to try it, they've already been using it!
