Ok, it’s a poll but you didn’t address my point.

Yes, the answer is yes you need to pay hom to implement features.

TBH I'm more annoyed basic QOL features are missing like seeing who liked something, automatically broadcasting posts to relays on reconnect, the ability to disable the use of data from the app, oh and when I block someone I don't want their avatar to get loaded until I unblock them cus otherwise my blocked list is just full of porn.

It’s the same story with Damus, basic things like just seeing threads doesn’t work properly but there’s still a focus on zap stuff for whatever reason, idgi.

It's all open source folks. Both Amethyst and Damus would likely accept these PRs if anybody makes them...

I'm tempted to add some of the features I want on my own, I've just been busy and going through a lot of bullshit so I really don't have the time.

Yes long threads are basically unreadable because the part that displays who is replying to what is taking up 90% of the sceen.

I can understand why they are trying to monetize this to some extent, since they are doing this for free and it's a lot of work. That being said I don't really like the zap stuff, it's silly and materialistic.

Is porn a common experience on here? I think I've only seen 1 account like that "My zippers stuck, zap me to fix it" LMAO, though every time I go on global iris crashes after like 5 mins.

I’ve never seen it.

Today on *logged out* youtube front page got a video of a topless massage just directly in the thumbnail so as far as I'm concerned nostr seems to be doing ok.

Ad block is a moral necessity.

Comment nesting is off but I assume this is about YT? Yeah this wasn't an ad, it was a presented video on the main page logged out. I didn't watch it, but would have expected you would need to be logged in to view that type of content at all, let alone have YT recommending it to you.

I've seen a few when searching the public timeline for non crypto accounts.

It’s still an atrocious idea.

Feel free to create a workable non-zap option in NIP 69. We can implement if there is one.

No.

““No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”

I didn’t realise it was a nip. I don’t understand why that would be part of nostr, I think crypto stuff should be a completely separate thing.

Funny thing about Nostr is that anyone can do what they want. There is no way to block things from "being part of Nostr". The NIP process is barely a guidance for implementers and a place for consensus in the use of event kinds. But one can always create their own kinds by themselves or break away from NIPs.

Is a new kind how you would distinguish data stored for a specific application? Let’s say I have an arbitrary json spec let’s just say a structure for a food recipe, would I then create a kind so people could share recipes? Or is there a better way to accomplish this? Just curious.

Yep, you would sign in the way relays can verify, but inside your JSON, you can add whatever you want.

Do an NIP if you want support from other clients.
