Sunday pic of sunchokes in a lick bucket. This is the first time I've grown them since I was a kid. I also planted some out in a field type area where they will get mowed maybe once a year and be mostly ignored. But if they make it, they will be there if I want some.

I have been wanting to plant some sunchokes, need to get me some.

I’ve grown sunchokes here in the south, I get tons of above ground growth but never had a good harvest of roots ever. Dunno if I’m doing anything wrong but they don’t perform like permaculturists claim, for me

Natural Grocers had them for $5something/LB earlier this year.

Heck of a lot cheaper than buying online and paying shipping. I went nuts with them and bought a couple of pounds every time I went to the store 🤣🤣

Sunchokes everywhere!!!

Wish i had a natural grocers nrar me.

What’s your farmers market scene like?

We live outside a pretty small town, but we have a small Saturday mkt, and a new one just started up in a neighboring small town. Went there yesterday.

I had started a patch behind my garage that I left and didn't harvest. it grew great for several years then over the next few years you could see like a fairy ring it was migrating out, but dieing in the center. the last few years there have been less and less. we might get some this year, but I'm not counting on it. I had started some others, but I think woodchucks got them. if I see any sprouts out there, I might try to transplant and see if I can some patches going again.

so, lesson i learned... again... don't plant and ignore.

plant, propagate, provide!
