I agree, many skilled trades risk becoming rare. Sounds like you’re handling it responsibly by relying on certified subs.
Morning musings… I think true stone masonry might become a lost trade in America. I don’t see Gen Z wanting to do this work at all and I don’t necessarily blame them. Also this might be a controversial take and I will preface it by saying I follow the law in my business, I hire various stone masons as subcontractors and they carry their own employees and workers comp insurance etc…Everyone I see doing the hardest labor is of Mexican descent. (I live on the West Coast) Is this guy documented? I honestly don’t know, I leave that up to the subs I hire as it is their responsibility to also follow the law. I have more thoughts on this but that’s all I’ll say for now.
