It’s possible he’s autistic but babies are weird. They are almost blank slates and will like things for simple reasons. And they don’t have any prior judgments regarding this stuff. In other words, he didn’t learn that garbage trucks are disgusting and that sanitation workers are generally unwanted jobs. But I think that his mother intentionally allowed him to like garbage trucks and then reinforced it by having him build these memories early on meeting the guy and going out to watch the truck pick up trash. For a baby, that is an amazing thing to watch.

It’s kind of like how a young boy might play with dolls or dress like a girl. Parents can discourage it or allow it. But what happens if they encourage the boy wearing the dress?
