If you have been in 'fight or flight' mode all your life, it feels strange when you finally find calmness. 🕊️😌 Like any habit or addiction, you may experience withdrawal from it. 😟

Your body is so accustomed to the stress hormones that it seeks them out. Therefore, even in a state of calmness, your brain will try to search for a problem, thinking, 'This can't be real' or 'I must look for something to solve.' 🤔 You constantly look for threats, even though there are none. 🚫

When you are feeling this way, take a moment to step back. 🧘‍♂️ Ask yourself these three important questions:

1. Are my thoughts real? If yes, then proceed to the second question. If not, proceed to the third. ✅

2. What evidence supports my first statement? Your brain will try to search for answers. 🔍

3. If I were not thinking what I am thinking now, how would I feel? 💭

These questions help your brain differentiate between 'what is' and 'your own thoughts.' This will guide you to be in control of your thoughts and feelings rather than being a 'slave to them.' Remember, YOU are NOT your THOUGHTS. ✨

Equally important, this technique takes a lot of practice. Any new habit requires consistent effort before you can replace the old one. 🔄 So do yourself a favour: be kind to yourself, 🫂 because no one else will. 💖 You cannot truly be kind to others or empathise with them unless you have practised it yourself. 🤝 🤗
