Curious noob question.. if there is another node that is on the same home wifi, it should sync in minutes right?

I don't think so via the network.

If you have a synced node locally though you can simply copy and paste the data via a thumbdrive or network drive.

I think it would still take a while, as the node has to check every block as it comes in, and that takes some resources. My node had very high disk read and write, and constant cpu usage through the entire process. Once synched it is minimal.
