I'm not sure how zap.stream works l but AFAICS your self-hosted Owncast instance is more decentralised and sovereign.
While my laptop was still working I looked in the network monitor in my browser and IIRC saw that it just loads your stream.mxtthxw.art URL. But with the added disadvantage that you don't own the zap.stream domain or host the servers.
There's what looks like a Nostr address in the URL. So maybe it links to a Nostr event. But I don't have any way of getting it directly from a relay right now, as my laptop is broke and I don't know of any Android apps for it.
Good to know, the main reason for using Zap Stream is for. Apps but to date I’ve actually done better from Fediverse donations. Also way more interaction on my Owncast page direct.
I guess it’s still early days but at this moment 4V4 on Nostr doesn’t match up with alternatives.
Much the same as comparing Bandcamp sales to V4V listens on Wavlake etc.
That said, I’ve been on the Fediverse 5 years compared to just under a year here.
Maybe I should share my Owncast here more.
