Yes, the control should be in the hands of the users. I would happily tag my images with a content warning (NIP-36 https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/36.md) but I think the only client that supports it is nostr:npub1sn0rtcjcf543gj4wsg7fa59s700d5ztys5ctj0g69g2x6802npjqhjjtws

As best I can tell no one has any liability with respect to what's posted except the poster.
So there's absolutely no excuse for third-party censorship. My understanding is that nostr was created to be censorship resistant.
I think the next big step for nostr is clients and relays that don't try to censor content or speech.
This is like the early days of the internet when groups like AOL and Prodigy tried to create walled gardens and cages. To allegedly protect YOU! from the real internet..😆
