I feel stupid. I still don’t get it.
Do you mean who own Bitcoin? Aren’t all bitcoins in utxos?
Scaling solutions are catalyzing this argument. I heard this discussed in the context of CTV potentially getting implemented and deployed. So there’ll be sovereign utxo owners and shared utxo owners.
But I bet you that, in not very distant future, people who only own bitcoin on custodial lightning or whose lightning balance can’t be swapped back on chain because it uneconomical will propagate this new narrative.
