I was listening down memory lane a few weeks ago and was reminded how the music industry rebelled against censorship in the form of Tipper Gore's PMRC. Ice-T's "Freedom of Speech...Just Watch What You Say". Megadeth had one, and even the somewhat cartoonish 2 Live Crew ended their Springsteen redo "Banned In the USA" with an ineloquent but almost touching monologue embracing free speech for all.

Was a bit young, prob 13 or 14 but I remember all of that. And that banned in usa monologue is one of the most powerful things ever spoken. Hit me hard then, still does today. I listen to that song very regularly still. The opener to Ice's album hit like a mofo too. Too bad the the dude talking sold the fuck out

Got that Ice T cd somewhere too but these made it through life with me. All bought 88/89 ish. Still not sure if listening to this stuff at 13 was good or bad, but such is life😂
