It would be nice to be able to peek at the Global feed without being bombarded with spam notes.

Anyone have any ideas on possible solutions to this?

It is my understanding that all social platforms have this trajectory.

Nostr is not the first to have a global feed. Eventually when you actually go global this is what happens.

If you can select which relay are in the global feed then just add a few like nostr.wine

Yes, the most cost effective way is to add paid relays which are relatively inexpensive. In my case I have 5-6 connected at all times, with a limited amount of public relays, that I test to see if they introduce spam.

Paid relays can be found at https://relay.exchange

Good advice. Thanks.

I zapped you 21 sats on your note, but it didn't show up in the Reactions like it does when I zap everyone else. Hmm...

Thank you, the reason it doesn’t show up is that my Lightning wallet doesn’t support a feature called NIP-57, this feature is something that will be added with time.

For wallets that support this feature are provided by #[3]

The following wallets all support NIP-57 Zaps:

strike.army

vida.page

stacker.news

Bitcoin Jungle

ln.tips (LightningTipBot)

Geyser

Bitcoin Beach

Current (Client+Wallet)

Wallet of Satoshi

Zebedee

Alby

I recently setup my own paid relay at https://relay.bigred.social if you'd like to join!

Iris and Nostrgram have similar solutions to this by using a "friends of friends" approach. The idea is to find a middle ground between an unfiltered global firehose, and a "paid relays only" approach by showing a global feed that includes friends of friends.

Have you tried Iris?

You can even turn the global filtering off if you're daring 😀

Wow! I did a long time ago, but only once back then. It looks much better now than I remember it back then. I'll play around with it. Thanks for the suggestion/reminder.
