But there shouldn’t be any ads.

Nostr doesn’t need ads.

Do you have to pay for your BTC mobile wallet?

Clients can do as they please. But paywalling is suicide. Be warned.

Again. Allow user to select ad frequency. If they want no ads, let them have no ads. Your use case solved. If they want an ad every 10 posts, let user set that. Or 1 every 20. User's choice.

But you pay the user a portion of the ad revenue as incentive incentivize allow ads view ads. When you pay the user, they'll allow ads. This is 98%+ of users.

In this format, the user isn't the product. They're also the landlord. And they have full flexibility to view or decline as they wish.

“Paywalls” as you call them are the foundation of every business ever created.

I rest my case.

most of nostr is opensource

And no open source app I’m aware of has ever succeeded at ads, and very few at paywalls. Instant fork and forget.

This is part of why I’m bearish on FOSS.

Cute another purple cat for me to follow

foss is the most used code in the world

intellectual property is a bad concept, we need to rethink how we reward the creative

copyfree is more my idea, reward more the more something is used

I haven’t been in foss that long but I have yet to see anyone even try to charge for anything.

There’s a few with a paid tier, and a few that charge for the convenience of getting the app from the platform’s store. Threema does this for instance.

Where’s my third purple cat at?

Playing Pokémon?

If he gets us all in the same spot, and feeds us the potion, we evolve.

Gotta catch em all!!!!

I'm a purple cat at heart 😂

samourai wallet has successfully found a way to generate revenue from whirlpool coinjoins, the entrance fee also functions as anti sybil attack and is therefore beneficial for the user for privacy gains

sparrow wallet then implemented whirlpool and takes a cut from from the entrance fee that come from sparrow users

beautiful FOSS in action

Doesn’t Samourai have atomic swaps?

Let me guess you pay for Linux too?
