If I understand the meme, all those people are in charge of the Bitcoin company, and they all have their own agenda, which often doesn't align with the others?

Well, it didn't just pop up out of nowhere, right? Who invented it? How are they not still in charge of it? Maybe they built a back door?
It was discovered/designed by an anonymous user(s) who went by the pseudonym of satoshi nakamoto. They disappeared when they felt the community was strong enough to support the project without a central figurehead/leader and the network has since developed/grown as an open source project
Some folks refer to this as the immaculate inception and why most consider bitcoin as the only alternative to the current system

Correct, #bitcoin is based on game theory. Interesting historical read "the blocksize war" by Jon Bier to get a feel what it would take to change the code. Forks are a part of the open source protocol. You can build your on Nikacoin.
