How hard you hit the ball, combined with the lie and type of terrain your ball is on, determines how straight your shot is. Super Rush also adds in a new mechanic to control the direction of the ball after you hit it. The catch is, you can only set the direction after you set the power of your shot - so make sure you line it up just right first! Also more advanced players will quickly learn that they can apply topspin (makes the ball travel farther) or backspin (makes the ball stop sooner) as they hit the ball. It's really common to see people online apply backspin to try and get the ball into the hole, but I find it's more effective to do normal shots and try to have the ball roll across the terrain just right to sink beautiful hits.
