I disagree. I've had a lot of the same friends for years and we still have some of the same conversations but we also share new things with each other.

Some of them have left and a few new ones joined but it's not any bigger of a group than it was a decade ago.

I think it's different in person. Online you don't really know anyone enough to stick around. And those that do will succumb to degraded experiences with introduction of bugs and lack of maintenance

Even then, you'd have to really form close relationships to care. I went to an event and now know a lot of people here, but I doubt anyone would stick around for me only.
