😂 They do that because the platforms they use reward it. The platforms reward it because it drives ad revenue, which the creators then share in. It’s a cycle that turns user attention into a currency as creators focus on making content that the platforms reward. Nostr breaks the cycle so creators can focus on making content for people, but it requires that reciprocal engagement via reposts/zaps/replies. “Likes” are worthless.

I'm fully aware why they do it. Doesn't make it any less hypocritical. It's just an ego test.

Not really. It’s a means to an end for artists making money from their craft. It’s a shitty means, but a means no less.
