"Ferdowsi", whose full name was Abu ʾl-Qasim Ferdowsi Tusi, lived during in the 10th and 11th centuries. He was born in Tus, a city in present-day Iran. Ferdowsi dedicated over three decades of his life to composing the Shahnameh, completing it around 1010 AD. The Shahnameh consists of over 50,000 rhyming couplets and is divided into three parts: mythical, heroic, and historical. It begins with the creation of the world and the Persian mythical history of kings and heroes, including legendary figures like Jamshid, Zahhak, and Rostam. The epic then transitions to the heroic era, focusing on the exploits of heroes such as Rostam and Sohrab. Finally, it covers historical events up to the Arab invasion of Persia in the 7th century.Ferdowsi's work played a significant role in preserving Persian culture, language, and history. His poetic language, rich imagery, and moral themes continue to influence Persian literature and culture to this day.

Today is his commemoration.
