We got through Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2 after its many years of development hell. I think the story, character writing, character models and voice acting were all pretty good. But my husband, who was the one actually playing, thinks the combat is Not Good, and you can definitely tell they cut and simplified a lot of systems down to bare bones to ship the damn thing. They also fudge the lore in a few very noticeable ways.

If you want to experience the story, turn the difficulty all the way down, because the combat isn't rewarding and there's no point suffering more with it.

I'll be honest, when it comes to most videogames these days, I tend to skip them and this one wasn't an exception because it kinda fails at what the old White Wolf stuff fails to do altogether. Plus, my co-author/fellow gamer/all-out road dawg on the West Coast and I are playing respective games solo using that stuff as lore and carving out a niche or four into it while setting it in a shared universe.

One just has better replay value and bang for the buck, especially now on eBay.

Check it out if you like this kinda thing and you don't have to passively read, you can join in yourself. Come have fun with us.
