i was just staring at a piece of code with a bunch of huge numbers made out of progressively longer series of the number 58 multiplied... essentially the squared, cubed, etc etc power series
and then i thought, what is this? 58? #58k gang is back?
and then i noticed... oh yeah, bitcoin addreses used to be base 58
they didn't make them 64 because there isn't enough letters and numbers to do that (62, sorry, need two more ciphers)
so, anyway, just reminded me, the 58 meme and bitcoin, it's been a thing from very early on
they picked base58 because if you take that base62 set, and remove all the similar symbols, I, 1 l, and 0, O, o, leaving only one out of that set each (not sure how `i` got in there since its similar to 1, I, l) but remove 4 from all digits and upper and lower case and you have 58
we won't see 58 again though, until 580K
maybe that's where the next price level will sit for a while too
