It's been a week and I keep going back to this paper. It's crazy to me.
Obviously I'm skeptical of any study that hasn't been reproduced yet, the reproducibility crisis is real and it affects every single area of science.
But even if we find out that every single one of their claims is overshot by 1000% the result would still be terrifying for the future of humanity.
If we keep using LLMs we are accellerating our heading towards the direction of idiocracy.
But at the same time, just remembering this article makes me think twice every time I try and use an LLM, so perhaps the future is not so bleak (at least in this area)
