The author claims that OpenAI getting into iPhones was actually a very raw deal for them and wonders how they’ll avoid becoming even more unprofitable.

Here’s my guess - they’re going to turn to the tried and true Silicon Valley practice of monetizing user data. LLMs are unique in that they are an incredible way to carry out surveillance on a level that’s almost unheard of. Hence why OpenAI just added a former NSA director to its board.

I’m sick of every electronic device I own spying on me. I really hope that hyper Bitcoinization happens soon and catches big tech by surprise and wipes them out. My biggest fear with AI has absolutely nothing to do with AGI. I personally think it’s impossible. But, I do think the chances of AI being used to further the regime are incredibly strong.

If I ever escape the fiat game, I’m going to start a company called “Dumb Electronics”. Complete with absolutely 0 internet connectivity, hardware plugs of all types, and hardware kill switches. Maybe one day 😅
