I tried, but I noticed that the execution loses a lot of spontaneity and I also don't feel comfortable with a camera watching me.

Fair – might be worth just putting the camera up a few times until you forget about it. Then you might end up with something fun.
I bought a Go Pro specifically, but I just can't forget it's there to register me.
I prefer to photograph the various phases, for now.
