One of the game reserves I was at in Sep in SA has a specific plan they do when they encounter animal poachers- they shoot them in each should and both knees, then leave their bodies to be consumed by hyenas and other predators never to be seen again!
Effective. Mildly jealous, not been over there for a few years. Might have to fix that next year!
