Yes XMR total supply can be verified, but is more complex than bitcoin.

Also lightning is a pain in the ass, you either break your head trying to understand how it works, then trying to get how to get liquidity and then have to take care of channels, backups, watchtowers, and more things.

Personally i don't like lightning at all an even less when to make it easy enough i have to go full custodial with a third party.

So I am pro BTC on-chain and spend using XMR.
