For people just joining Bluesky, if you own a domain name, you can use that as your handle instead of @handle.bsky.social

For example, I own cheesemaker.me so my handle is @cheesemaker.me

From the desktop web app, go to Settings/Change Handle/I have my own domain. Hope this helps!
