So cool. I wondered if you had any other stabilizing base. One tilt forward/sideways and those beautiful veins can’t take much stress… nostr:note1ljfa2e5u9xspw6rwq8ufgj5zspe6z44yt2cf73frq0csxaqm8k9s6yutmw

When the sculpture is “finished” I’m going to assess its stability. If it’s unsteady by itself, what I’ll do is drill one or two holes in the base and then a metal pin can be inserted to prevent any accidental tipping over… but I’m thinking/hoping that won’t be necessary.

Hopefully not. The base seems stable just from the looks of things. I can’t wait until the final pic with maybe it back lit or something. Will you wax, buff, polish, or oil it to bring more contrast of color out?

Basically just sanding to a very high grit. It will shine on its own at that point. And then it will get powder coated with a clear UV-resistant finish. The color of this stone will fade over time when exposed to UV light.

Calcite is beautiful in all of its tints/shades. It has such an ethereal patina.
