Question about #bitcoin. It's digital. All transactions are logged. But...it's private? How is it not just monitored by governments and corporations? Thanks in advance.

It is tracked/trackable. It's the effect of being fully transparent.

What you can't easily do is turn the data on chain to any specific person or action off chain.

There are also ways to make that even harder by mixing transactions too.

Thanks. But wallets have addresses. Are they temporary? And lightning is all off chain?

Lightning is basically untraceable, being off chain is partly why.

Wallets do have addresses, but you can't link any given address to a specific wallet.

10 different addresses can be the same wallet, or 10 different ones. You can't tell from on chain data.

Killer. Thanks for the help.

It's not private, just psudeonomous
