What is a bank? A bank is a building with a vault with money inside. Well no, that hasn’t been true for a long time.

Banks are companies that run ledgers that store bits of data that represent value. The rules of the ledgers are opaque and applied arbitrarily. Across all banks, the Uber-bank, the FED, gets to randomly change the value of the bits in the ledgers, again applied unequally.
