People I meet (usually no-coiners) tend to refer to their spouse as “partner”. Did I miss a memo where husband/wife got phased out or is this a new privacy thing or something? 🤨 🤷

That has been a thing for years now and yeah it throws me off. I’m like wait, were you wanting to make me think you’re gay?
Idk. Just people trying to be very broadly inclusive i guess, but ultimately sort of just creates confusion
Yeah it’s confusing, but also hilarious. A work body of mine tended to keep referring to his wife as partner. He is German and he kept using the male form of partner instead of the female form. We genuinely thought he was gay until he took a sabbatical cause his partner was expecting their first child. 😂

confusion is the whole point of it all
I don’t think so personally, but perhaps 🤷♂️
confusion is a key technique of cult induction, and a key trick for anyone running a scam, trying to hustle you
even Robert Greene's 48 laws of power several of his laws are based on confusing your opponents
confused people don't recognise what is happening because their minds are distracted by things that they can't figure out... there's a whole bunch of language tricks with this too... antifascist is an example of a confusion tactic
