I waited for the third generation of iPhone before I bought one.
I'm doing the same with AI home hardware.
I waited for the third generation of iPhone before I bought one.
I'm doing the same with AI home hardware.
I waited until the 5, I think...the one that introduced Siri lolol. I fell for the promise of AI then too
China gonna deepseek 2.0 and nuke our economy ahhh!
Imagine what Siri could have been? 😂
I was the fist kid on the block to have it. Ran to friend's to show it off, and it stopped working (turns out there was too much load in first few days or something), and proceeded to endure some girls taking turns dunking on me the rest of the evening
Dunkin girls sounds better than Dunkin Donuts 😂
It was so annoying. They were so pleased with themselves, certain that I felt embarrassed my phone failed during my demo. It was a nuisance, but I didn't particularly care. But they were like "loooool YODL was so excited, and it didn't work, looool. Must be so mad" Which made me mad
I just have certain design requirements
Like, I won't keep replacing my phones if they keep making it hard to disconnect the cameras/microphones/speakers/batteries, let alone add a home robot with those issues
And I'll use my phone less and less as long as it's based on proprietary stuff, likewise I'll never spend much time having the battery in a robot with proprietary hardware/software
I don't know if good designs will come in gen 1, gen 10, ever or never tbh
You have THE strictest design requirements I've ever encountered. Godspeed
I forgot to mention pls no plastic
Of course! Say, maybe we should hire you to design the next phone, what do you say?!
...

It wouldn't be like the Homer car, it's my calling
For a start I'd basically just take the iPhone 4, remove all the plastic, maybe replace the glass with sapphire to make it more durable, and add a way to pop the back off for battery removal and camera/mic/speaker switches (maybe others)
Then I'd make the OS open source and fix any misleading/confusing phrasing in the UI. 99% of my career as a designer would be spent fighting over how stuff should be phrased
If the OS ever stops needing help, then I might design a Homer car phone with an OLED screen on one side and e ink on the other side and an optional built in joint/blunt lighter and 2 full size USB ports and a full size HDMI port and 4 headphone jacks that can also handle power and data transfer iPod Shuffle style
And a built in projector
Have you seen the new Chinese-made cars? They seem pretty loaded. I want one
What ones? I don't like cars with too much tech, I wish the little Chinese electric cars that are basically built on golf cart chassis were street legal in more of the US
The projector joke (?) got me thinking of this
Projector would actually be a really cool feature for a car but I believe more phones should be like this
I'd also carry a folding keyboard/trackpad thing separate from the phone so it can be turned into a computer. Those already exist
Sorry I missed your call, left my projector at home.
Reminds me of this usb second monitor thing I had a while back. Was decent to add to a laptop, but a bit dim and ultimately I stopped using it.
I be looking at these but don't have a good place to keep one parked

Is china accepting immigrants? Those would cost 10k here, I'm certain
Those both have free shipping to the US. I think they are probably being sold at a loss to Americans to delay climate change due to the impact of climate change on China? Not sure, definitely insane prices to me
Gonna send to my friend who bought some ebikes from china to save money (worked out well, they are pretty sick, if you like those things, which I kinda don't).
Oh my bad, I took those screenshots with the some "deposit" price, those ones are actually like $4000
There are smaller ones for more like 1k, that's why I was confused
Gd it! Already sent. That did seem unreal. Everyone would be driving these
The options in the 1-2k range still make me confused how I don't see them more. The street legality would be the issue in most places but I actually live where there are plenty of trails they'd probably be legal on. Guess it's still the street legality making it limited usefulness though
