Best option is that one, am I pretty sure extensions will use same software just in a gui way.

Yes and nope :lol: I mean there's extension that use yt-dlp, since is just an .exe to be used in the terminal https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp wherever you choose in the end uses yt-dlp in the background

You download the binary for your system. Like for me, I download the Linux standalone binary and rename it yt-dlp
Then to use it in a terminal it's usually as simple as :

yt-dlp
```
And it can usually download other sources too.
There's a good wrapper app for Android too. Just share to it, then it handles the download.
