If everyone is anyways going to have a unique #lightning address on #nostr - then what is the point of nip-05 email esq ID ? Lightning is already easy enough to remember; and it has use beyond #nostr ..

#askNostr

Besides it is so confusing for the newcomers - I mean you need an house f2f class to explain them how to set up lightning address .. and then top it up with another similar ish nip-05 ID .. So I just removed my nip-05 ..

NIP-05 enforces uniqueness and requires verification of a specific npub unlike lightning address

Aren't lightning addresses unique .. I mean can you have same lightning address as me , assuming you don't wanna send the sats to me ?

Someone could put any lightning address they want on a profile and sacrifice getting the value of zaps in favor of impersonating someone else.

That is a good point .. but that is easy to solve if we want to .. whoever adds a lightning address , we can send a #Sat to them and ask them to send it back from same address ..

I bet .. if this is a rule ..we won't need many sats ..cuz no one would do it .. in addition the true owner of lightning address would know immediately.

Lightning addresses don't store funds, they're just a gateway to generating an invoice. You wouldn't be able to say that the sat you got back came from the same address, because no lightning sats come from addresses.

I see .. I need to dig deeper into this .. but if I send you some sats from say my address shutosha@primal.net .. wouldn't you know who sent you money ? That seems strange though

Here .. see the lightning address of sender is right below the name ..

That's saying that the zap came from that nostr account, not that the zap came from that address. You can send zaps from sources other than how you receive them.
