Ohh you need to install the Fdroid version of amethyst. The one you are using uses the Playstore to send notifications

Note: I'm unable to disable tor, even if I uninstall orbot. Whenever I restart amethyst, it shows up as connected, and when I disconnect it, it never connects to the relays in clearnet. I had to reinstall to get amethyst to connect to relays without tor.
