Old mate has been syncing the bitcoin blockchain for nearly 3 months. Most people aren’t going to go to these lengths to run bitcoin, most won’t even buy a dedicated machine for it.

Imagine a device even your mum could operate. Plug-in to power and Ethernet and be running in 10 minutes - that’s something a lot more people would be willing to engage with. That’s what we need to make available.

Wow, what a commitment! 🐶🐾🫂💕💪🏻

Is he using a potato? That seems excessively long.

Might surprise you to learn this but cheap, high-speed, uncapped internet is not the default for all 8 Billion people on earth.

I’m interested in how we help these people join the bitcoin economy by removing barriers.

Well the only way to fix that would be to get cheap fast internet to everyone. Unless you want to change block sizes smaller. I think that’s going to be harder.

this is why keeping block size tiny has always been critical for decentralization

also why these ridiculous ordinals are basically spammy, bloated garbage to the ledger..unnecessary af

The pain is shared! I’m 88% on a sync started at the first of the year. Rural life is a bit different.

Not long now brother 🤙

90.08%

Zooming right along.

97.23%

99.52%

And… done. 61 days to sync including the up and down time. Fun little experiment.

Congrats pleb, and thank you for keeping me abreast of your journey to this full node!

Need to make it easier for someone like you to get a node online. Improved sneaker net.

The updates were either going be appreciated or annoying. 😂

Wanted to spin one up using only mobile data. Knew it was going to take some time.. didn’t think 61 days.

Makes you appreciate the convenience of urban internet services. Wanting to play with amateur radio soon.
