As a relay operator, I have yet to hear an argument that even made me waver in my decision to support event deletions.

My goal continues to be a ToS and policies that impose as little as possible on my patrons, while continuing to keep me legally safe.

Legal challenge is of utmost important and any admin has right to PURGE / drop/ nuke any relay DB at their own decision without notice. Esp the free volunteer ones. Relays not archival Library after all. having said any NIP changes pushed upon suddenly will NOT be blinded accepted 100% of current existing community 700K active npubs. Might evolve into something else that design goals.

I agree with everything said here. And I do think the lifespan of a note’s storage is an important discussion - and one I view paid relays very differently than free ones.

To date though, I have not found it necessary to delete any notes, aside from those of one user to specifically requested it. Storage is cheap, and my patrons are few (in comparison).

If someone wants 100% censorship-free noting on nostr, I thought it was common knowledge, they need to run their own relay. Your relay is your property and if you have a ToS especially, it’s easy to say, they violate, they lose service.
