I'm a bit concerned about the possibility of catching infection or disease from raw milk. What's your opinion on that?

It’s possible, just like any raw food product. Knowledge of the business’s sanitation practices and watching out for funky-smells, tastes and colors is step one. Visit the farm or milking facility if you can. Ask about refrigeration, health of the cows, milk testing etc.. If they get shifty or don’t seem above board or make excuses for not testing, don’t buy.

Farm eggs for instance, if the farmer doesn’t wash the natural coating off and sells them unrefrigerated I feel fine giving the shells a wash before eating raw or just being careful and cooking thru if not. Salmonella lives on the outside of the shell. Knowledge is power!
